F-105 for R. Norlan Daughtrey. 28 x 28.
The 188th Squadron asked me to paint a portrait of an F-105 for our
friend Norlan when he was released from the Hanoi Hilton after seven
years eight months in captivity. It is a Thud flying over typical
Vietnam paddy land. In the winter months the fields are brown and the
new rice, a startlingly bright green, is cultivated in small
enclosures before planting it throughout the area. We all loved
Norlan and were delighted to have him among us again.
