Robert Lougheed has helped me by getting me out to make me look at the
world the way it is and to adjust my analogue, or model of reality,
down to the way the world looks…how the light from the sky floods
and how the light from the sun bounces off the colored earth and
backlights. Once you begin to work with these kinds of problems and
put them in your head, then all of a sudden your paintings give the
viewer the impression of reality, of being there, that this exists,
that it is solid. If you don't have an understanding of this, how can
you communicate it to others? (Profiles film)
