Arroyo del Oso. 48 x 76.
Arroyo del Oso is one of the major washes that extend from the Sandia
Mountains through Albuquerque to the Rio Grande valley. About once a
year a great cumulus cloud will flame in the setting sun, and the
mountains east of the town will glow. In another blurb he wrote: The
Arroyo del Oso runs within 100 yards of our house in Albuquerque. In
August, the Sandias east of town turn purple in the red light of
sunset and the clouds standing behind them turn orange. Often Roz and
I watch the mountains from the arroyo as they put on this pageant,
while nearby, the traffic whirrs on Osuna Road and the town goes about
its business. At times Albuquerque seems oblivious of being one of
the most beautiful places on earth.
