Crater Lake from Skell Head. 36 x 56.
If your soul and your central nervous system ever happen to become
deficient in blue, by all means visit Crater Lake. Trapped in a deep
crater, fresh water from the surrounding ridges melts and runs
directly into the pool without silt or any contaminant other than a
faint yellow film of pollen from the pines in spring. Sunlight
plunges deeply into the lake diffusing its energy in endless fathoms
of clear water. As a result, the whole body of liquid sends back to
the eye a dark, rich, vivid blue.
