Winter Sunset West of Quemado. 48 x 46.

Quemado, New Mexico, lies high near the Continental Divide, with the
eastern end of the Mogollon Rim joining the high lands just south of
town. In winter, often wet weather from off Baja, California, comes
up over Arizona, and the summer-like clouds flow up over the Rim to
about Quemado before the water in them starts to freeze and change
them into winter clouds. Here is just such a sky at sunset with the
clouds in transition lit from below by the last red rays of the sun
and the land darkening in the high winter cold of twilight.
