Sabah is known as The Land below the Wind. Typhoons never touch there.
The result, after millions of years of ample rain and warm sunlight,
is the evolution of many graceful trees that reach upward hundreds of
feet with lofty branches curving out and then up to the light like the
arms of elegant candelabra. Where the sun reaches the jungle floor
there is bright color; elsewhere the great forest stands somber and
quiet in the mist.
