Desert View. 24 x 36.

At the Grand Canyon, this is the view northward from the Desert View
tower showing the Colorado River as it flows south from Lee's Ferry
and the Vermillion Cliffs. Several miles upstream from where the
river appears in this painting are the Red Wall Cavern and Vasey's
Paradise. There the river is still in shadow and cold until the sun
finally reaches it near noon. When Roz and I went down the river on a
raft several years ago this was the coldest part of the trip of over
two hundred miles. It was also the most beautiful.
