Field Study: October near La Cienega, 12 x 18

I painted this with my friend Robert Lougheed out on the edge of the
highway near La Cienega turnoff. The object of the study was to try
to paint the brilliant yellow of the cottonwoods in proper relation to
the sky and the ground under the sun at noon. 1981
