Field Study: On the Plain of Angostura, 8 x 12

The Rio Grande flows through a narrow pass north of Bernalillo. I
painted this about 2 o'clock on an August afternoon looking northeast
toward Santa Fe and the Sangre de Cristos, blue on the horizon. The
young thundercloud grows midway between me and the mountains. This is
near where Don Francisco Vasquez de Coronado camped almost four
hundred and fifty years ago. It has not changed. 8-1985.
