Field Study: Kahekiliki's Leap, Maui, 12 x 16

I do not know the story of Kahekiliki, but if he jumped from the top
of this point on the northeast coast of Maui, he first had to project
himself farther outward than I can throw a rock, and if he hit deep
water after falling from the top, he didn't enjoy it. He would gain
too much speed. I doubt he survived it. The bay west of the peak is
filled to a shallow depth with coral. That changes the color of the
sea. 3-1987
