Field Study: The Canadian Falls, Niagara, 12 x 18 panel

This study was painted in a drenching mist churned up by the falls. I
could see very little and the colors were extremely subtle, yet it was
the very vagueness and silvery veil that gave feeling to the
earth-shaking grandeur and immensity of this magnificent cataract.
The heavy rolling thunder and speed of the water near the brink was
hypnotic. 10-1986
