Los Gigantes. 24 x 48.

Near El Moro National Monument, less than three miles to the northwest
lies this mesa. The altitude is above 7,000 feet so that Ponderosa
pines are abundant and the cliffs are a light yellow rock with strata
of red iron oxide. The cap rock is hard, so the erosion falls almost
vertically from the ragged edges of the cap and even grows "Giants"
where some of the hard rocks become isolated from the top of the mesa.
