Twilight Peak. 30 x 24.

his is one of a series of peaks in Colorado that may be seen from the
road from Durango to Silverton. The steep face has been worn into
vein-like channels, almost a leaf pattern, by the water, snow, ice and
particles of the mountain sliding down into the valley. Judging by
the wear on the granite rock, the funnel-like throat of the valley
would be an incredibly risky place any time of the year. I would
estimate the height of this spalled face to be four thousand feet. It
is the combination of its great size and strength along with the
simplicity and grace of its erosion that attracts me.
