Of all the flora of Arizona, the Palo Verde is the softest and most
graceful. It grows a small leaf on willowy twigs that give it almost
a smoky outline. It gets its name from the bright green bark that
covers its trunk and branches. The branches curve and twist inside
the diaphanous cloud of foliage. This Palo Verde is backlighted near
a rock outcrop at the north end of the park. 1987
