Field Study: Crater Lake from Skell Head, 15 x 12

If you want to see blue, look into Crater Lake on a clear day at
midsummer. To match the lake, however, I had to gray my ultramarine
blue paint slightly. I suppose the dazzling effect of blueness is
caused not only by the dark water itself, but also by its edges'
turning lighter blue-green where it shallows. Also the color blue
travels with less graying through the atmosphere. 8-1984
