Field Study: The San Juan Island, 8 x 12

These islands lie between Seattle and Vancouver in the Juan de Fuca
Strait. The maritime climate is surprisingly mild and there are tall
stands of spruce, fir, and other conifers, all with beautifully
straight trunks that must have delighted mariners in the days of sail.
The principal town is Rosario. This was painted from a small boat,
drifting south of the cluster that hosts the town. 8-1976
