Field Study: Spring on the Rio Grande, 8 x 12

Our last frost comes in late April, about thirty days past the
equinox. By the first week in May the whole valley is cloaked in a
fresh, delicate green. The desert retains its winter brown because
the summer rain is yet to come. Snow lingers on the north slopes of
the mountains for another month. These are the Sandias, painted from
west of Bernalillo. 6-1985
