Sometimes at sunset the bottoms of the clouds turn so red you can
hardly believe it. In the foreground are the very low mesas dusted
with Ponderosa and the valleys of gray sage that lie between Ramah and
Zuni. The sky behind the clouds ranges from bright yellow-beige down
to blue-gray, but the red clouds make the neutral color of the sky
appear bright green.
